OUR MISSION STATEMENT

To encourage community involvement, good health, well-being and environmental awareness via a shared garden for people of all ages, abilities and cultures to enjoy.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

The Woolgoolga Regional Community Gardens (WRCG) Association was established in 2009 to initiate the first community garden in Woolgoolga. The land, which is on the western side of the Woolgoolga netball courts, was secured with a Licence Agreement from Coffs Harbour City Council.

Incorporated in Sept 2013, we held our first AGM in October 2014 and a committee was formed to manage the ongoing progress of the gardens.

Over the last 7 years the Gardens has grown to include Community Garden beds, 37 Rental Beds, a street food forest accessible to the public, and a fruit orchard.

We now have established tool sheds, a shadehouse, a glasshouse, compost bins and areas for collecting and storing the components for composting.

Almost completed are our meeting place, installed are 5 water tanks and composting toilet, with a planned pathway, and including more garden areas to cater to all our members and the community.

OUR PLANS

We contracted Jackie Amos, a Landscape Architect, to design our ‘Grand Landscape Garden Master Plan’. She incorporated the vision of the members and committee including feedback from our community.

We have included beautiful ambling walkways, a meeting place, a gathering space, a mandala sensory garden and a permaculture garden. There is a place for shared gardens beds and for our rental plots, a special place for the children to play and beautiful pergolas aside a tranquil water garden.  We have planned storage, water tanks and hot houses.

The gardens aim to be environmentally friendly following sustainable practices. There will be the ability to hold concerts, film nights and entertainments as well as a meeting place for groups and organisations to take advantage of.

This is our long term vision and will take a few years to fulfill but each week, each month we are achieving great things and making a beautiful space for all to enjoy.
